Extended Safety Data Sheets, because of their sometimes enormous scope, are hardly suited to inform the addressee quickly and easily about measures to be taken for the safe use of chemical products.

From this problematic situation arose the ESComXML approach to communication of exposure scenarios between members of the supply chain in an electronic form. It involves the exchange of data using standardized XML files using a common set of phrases codes, in order to allow the data transfers across different systems.

Prosisoft, as member of the Community Development Group (CDG) supports this approach, which is propagated by the Chemical Industry the European Chemical Industry Council CEFIC, the European Chemicals Agency ECHA, and the relevant software manufacturers, IT service providers respectively.
